Our commitment to improving the natural environment and forest
The Kaingaroa Forest Estate is remarkable for many reasons
Not only is it where we undertake the largest contiguous area of commercial forestry operations in New Zealand, but it is also a place of cultural importance and connection, a place to bike and hike, a forest to hunt and gather, home to rare species and a vital carbon sink. Our forests absorb carbon dioxide, maintain biodiversity, regulate the local climate, and contain ecosystems that contribute to a more resilient planet.
Our commitment to sustainable practices goes well beyond the requirements of our FSC® and PEFC® certifications. Sustainability is part of our everyday work to enhance and protect our environment. We are committed to improving the natural environment and forest for our owners, our community, iwi landowners, and future generations.
Restorative Development Goals
Our 2050 targets
The core of our sustainability strategy is represented by our Restorative Development Goals. Our delivery programme involves initiatives and aspirations to sustain and regenerate natural resources, support our people, our community and our environment. We seek environmental and social restoration and strive for a positive impact on the ecosystem, people and communities we work with.
