Manaaki - Mahi tahi - Tipu
Our company culture is built on the values of Manaaki, Mahi tahi and Tipu - care, collaborate and grow.
These values inform our identity and create an environment where caring for one another and having a collaborative and continuous growth mindset are integral to our ways of working.
Our Core Values
Manaaki
We care about our people, our community, and our environment. Our team supports one another and takes responsibility for our actions. We empower our people to make a positive difference within our community and our environment, so that we leave a legacy for the future.
Mahi tahi
Through collaboration we proactively communicate and exchange ideas both internally and externally. By communicating well and challenging each other constructively, we build stronger teams and relationships where everyone's ideas are heard.
Tipu
We grow better, every day. Together with our team, our contractors, and our community we learn, innovate and grow, making step-by-step improvements that create new opportunities and help us all lead the way.
Mahi Tatou
Fostering a positive and adaptive workplace culture is key to the success of our people.
Recognising this, Kaingaroa Tipu implemented Mahi Tatou, a two-and-a-half-day leadership training initiative designed to improve collaboration between our leaders, contractors and team members.
Mahi Tatou promotes a sense of ownership in our work design and delivery. It helps us create an inclusive and collaborative work environment, which contributes to strong engagement between our teams and the wider community. Ultimately, Mahi Tatou supports better ways of working and better outcomes.
This training initiative is facilitated by our CEO Ryan Cavanagh and Rod Barnett, an esteemed and experienced team-building facilitator. The sessions are a blend of interactive learning and engaging team activities designed to provide both practical insights and enjoyable learning experiences. Since June 2021, 97% of our team and many of our contractors have completed the Mahi Tatou programme, and their feedback has been that it’s a brilliant session that gives a great introduction to the way of working at Kaingaroa Tipu.
