Creating better business initiatives
Our role in the region extends further than forestry. We’re deeply invested in supporting the businesses and organisations that contribute to a thriving local economy.
As a major employer, we work alongside iwi, industry partners, and local enterprises to champion initiatives that deliver long-term value and open more opportunities for economic growth.
Kaingaroa Tipu plays a vital role in driving the local economy. In the most recent financial year, we spent more than $390 million across 900-plus businesses involved in our forestry operations, with 30% of those businesses based in the Rotorua district.
At the peak of our operations, our supply chain supports over 1,000 people creating significant employment opportunities.
We are active corporate sponsors. It is our pleasure to sponsor the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce's Workplace Safety and Wellbeing Award, and the CNI Wood Council's Female in Forestry Award every year.
Through close collaboration with iwi, contractors, and customers we aim to ensure our forestry operations not only meet today’s needs but also contribute to a stronger, more sustainable future for our community, our owners and generations to come.
Transforming forestry through digitally enabled harvesting
Strong partnerships drive innovation. That’s why we’re working alongside our contractors to bring real-time data connectivity to harvesting sites, ensuring smarter, safer, and more efficient operations.

Training for the future
Partnering with our distribution provider, we facilitate and co-fund eight Class 4 truck drivers per year to achieve their Class 5 licence. This increases the number of truck drivers that can safely drive logging trucks in both the on-highway and off-highway environment.
Partnering with our contractors, we provide Training Scholarships to contractors that have recruited promising individuals who are working towards specific training goals to become fully qualified in a particular role. These could include operational roles from the nursery and silviculture through to harvesting. Support is available for up to six months and is conditional upon a scholarship agreement which includes a detailed training plan.
