Access & Safety
Kaingaroa Forest is a commercial forest. Access is controlled to keep the public and those working in the forest safe.
Access over the public access easement of Kiorenui Road to Ngahuinga Road, then Ngahuinga Road to the Rangitaiki River is open during daylight hours only. This is strictly for access to the Rangitaiki River. No other road(s) can be used and no other activity without a permit is allowed, e.g. hunting.
Commercial Operations
There are currently no commercial operations affecting road closures.

Recreational Access
Seasonal hunting access for permit holders is available in Kaingaroa and Rotoehu forests. Fishing access is available to the water bodies in Kaingaroa Forest (Rangitaiki River and Flaxy Lake Wheao River) and to Lake Rotomahana through Waimangu Forest.
