Whakarewarewa Forest operations

Mowing operations

We have started our roadside mowing programme in Whakarewarewa Forest, which will run through to 25 September 2026. The programme operates 6am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

The mower will have two pilot vehicles, front and back. Affected recreational trails will be closed briefly by the front pilot and re-opened by the rear pilot once the mower is clear of the area. 

Please use caution around the operation, obey all signage, instructions, and restrictions – they are there for your safety.
