Whakarewarewa Forest operations

Wallaby control operation

We are carrying out pest control operations, targeting wallabies, overnight between Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th of October.

This operation will take place between 10:00pm and 4:00am. Please see the map below for detail on the area to be treated. The method being applied is thermal imaging and shooting.

Due to the timing of the operation these closures will have minimal impact on recreational users. Our staff will be present to manage any road or trail closures, as they arise. Please respect any signage, closures, and operational staff, as they are there for your safety.
