Harvest update

Road-line salvage (harvesting and skid construction) update for the summer harvest period in Whakarewarewa Forest.

Our road-line harvest contractor has moved into the block adjacent to their current operation on Red Tank Road. 

Operational hours for the logging crew remain the same: 5:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday. See the map below for the operational area.

Stop/Go and appropriate closures/diversions will be in place as required. The trucking route will also change as the new crew moves into Princess Anne Road, with trucks using Nice Road (entry), Pipeline Road and Hill Road to enter/exit the harvest area.

Several roads and trails will be impacted by this operation, these being:

  • Roads: Red Tank Road, Princess Anne.
  • Mountain Bike Trails: Dragon's Tail, Be Rude Not 2, Sweet & Sour.
  • Horse Riding Trail: Te Ara Puna

We request that forest users please use caution in the area, obey all signage, instructions, restrictions and respect the traffic controllers – they are there for your safety.
